BOOM
Boom Operator
The boom is still the most natural source of dialogue on set. The boom operator choreographs the microphone with camera, lighting and actors to capture every line out of frame and without shadows. Felix Castillo has worked as boom operator on the feature films Coma Profundo and Milly: Reina del Merengue.
What your production gains
Dialogue with natural space
The boom microphone captures the voice with the scene's acoustics, something a lavalier can't reproduce.
Invisible to camera
Coordination with the cinematographer and electrical crew to avoid shadows, reflections and the mic in frame.
Less ADR
Good boom work reduces the lines that have to be re-recorded in the studio, with their cost in time and budget.
How we work
- 01
Camera rehearsal
Framing, moves and frame lines are marked for each shot.
- 02
Position and choreography
We define where and how to follow each actor without interfering with light or camera.
- 03
Take

Frequently asked questions
Can I hire just the boom operator?
Yes. They can join an existing sound team or work alongside our sound mixer.
Does the boom replace wireless microphones?
They complement each other. The boom provides the main dialogue and wireless mics cover wide shots or scenes where the boom can't get close.
